Game of Thrones S08E03 WHY the Battle for Winterfell is a MILITARY TACTICAL FAIL

Game of Thrones S08E03 WHY the Battle for Winterfell is a MILITARY TACTICAL FAIL

Here is a military tactical breakdown of how screwed-up the Battle of Winterfell went down. I chose to compare classical military tactics from source material of human history arguing the poor writing of the Winterfell Episode. In the episode of “THE LONGEST BATTLE SCENE SHOT FOR A TV SHOW!!” audiences after 7 long years gets a similar feeling from Rian Johnson’s Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi. A villain so-hyped-up only to not say not a word, no additional explanation of the villain’s intentions, and dies by the power of a female…Not doubting the skill of Ayra’s stealthy character and definitely Arya is not a Mary Sue as Rey from Star Wars…regardless, viewers received so much and the same time so little plot content from the Battle for Winterfell episode!

Alexander the Great, the Mongols, Romans and Greeks would not over-commit their forces in anyway! In addition, dismounting the heavy Knights of the Vale to foot soldiers and sending the Dothraki blindingly to test the enemy strength is an absolutely horrible military strategy by show writers. Setting aside the aspect of being a "show" with a "budget" one would think as many battles as Jon, Daenrys, Tyrion, Sansa and even Jaime have experienced would have planned (character-wise) a better tactical strategy against the Un-dead. WHY WOULD LEADERS TACTICALLY DISADVANTAGE ITS POSITION BY DISMOUNTING THE KNIGHTS OF THE VALE DEGRADING TO FOOT SOLDIERS????!

Are You Tired of Hollywood's SJW Character Archetypes and Protagonist?

Sigh...another pro feminist protagonist and SJW …

So this weekend the first images of another revisit to Terminator has yet again stirred another SJW pro-feminist approach to a beloved film franchise. In recent years many would agree that beloved franchises created by breakthrough producers and directors as James Cameron, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan, to name a few, their film franchises  had been created with actual never-before cinema have been undone in recent times. One can target and blame the pro-liberal and millennial incursion of ideals forcing the SJW or, social justice warrior, archetype characters.  As many would agree that Hollywood is pushing the bullshit once again with Terminator.

What next? Hollywood producing a Back to the Future with the daughter of Marty McFly?? Come on Hollywood!!!

This SJW/pro-feminist protagonist is never going to stop because there are two camps in the thought process of people today. The first is the social acceptance of pro-liberal iconic female archetypes in film and cinema. The second, are people who speak-up against the SJW social bullshit. We see the incursion in the Star Wars franchise with Rey, her character becoming a bad-ass light-side wielding character overnight! Compared to the original Star Wars archetype, Luke Skywalker and his powerful Skywalker family.  I must point out that George Lucas in the beginning, had envisioned a female protagonist but threw that idea out in favor of a male (look how that decision turned out). Today, the SJW trend continues by butchering James Cameron's masterpiece Terminator franchise which, already past directors attempted to reboot with Christian Bale and even an older Arnold-Terminator. Many would agree you cannot have a successful terminator without Arnold!

the-terminator.jpg

Of course, there will be people who target those who speak-up against these types of SJW character archetypes. Some will label you either a racist, or masculine pig. Many grew-up, like myself,  watching Charles Bronson, Dirty Harry movies, Sylvester Stallone movies, Arnold Schwarzenegger movies but now we are living in a time-frame where these character types and character building are swept aside for 20 minutes of character development and the character is a superstar overnight because marketing is a devil in sheep's clothing.  Hollywood does these things to get viewers on board:

1. Cast a hot female

2. Cast two hot females in supporting roles

3. Hand-over an established franchise to the female protagonist

Terminator-2019-Stars-Official-First-Picture.jpg

The announcement of a new Terminator movie viewers are seeing two females along side the iconic Sarah Conner played by Linda Hamilton (a badass in her own right). This photo tells me several things to expect from this movie. Another send-off of new blood within a franchise. These females alongside Linda Hamilton have some big-shoes to fill. The original Terminator and Terminator 2, Linda Hamilton on-screen is a force to be reckoned with.  This is Hollywood's current process of handing-off a successful franchise to less appealing actors/actresses. Can anyone agree that Solo followed this procedure? Disney killed-off Han Solo played by the iconic and beloved Harrison Ford, only to be replaced by a lesser actor and prequel. WHAT THE FUCKING- FUCK>>>?! Definitely the modern age of movie casting has been a game-changer in cinema and film. Viewers see sexy females not just in film but on television. Look at the weather anchors! TITS AND ASS!

Beautiful-Weather-Girls.jpg

No, I am not jealous. No, I am not a racist. No, I am not picking on stereotypes but viewers are being forced to accept the SJW as a social standard. This strategy from Hollyowood continues to sell to the masses. SJW even filters their nasty imagery into comic books  all pop culture. People eat-up the SJW without asking questions as to why the fuck would you fuck with a great franchise like Terminator with someone who looks like Justin fucking Bieber?!?

96d778f9fdd0fc119a3998523509f95d.jpg

Nevertheless, I do enjoy strong female archetypes with character background with historical pop-culture acceptance. For example, Gal Gadot portrayal of Wonder Woman is an excellent piece of female superhero protagonist. Instead, Terminator gets the SJW forced upon by Hollywood.

In the end, this is both disturbing and at the same time hard to digest because this is the direction of the large corporate film industry and we are about to see that in years to come.  Hollywood continues to push the SJW social bullshit on viewers . Many would agree that a Terminator movie without Arnold Schwarzenegger is no Termnator movie.

VENOM, will Sony's Anti-Hero cash-in at the box office?

37425865_1017738985057833_7214021370387103744_o.png

Let’s talk about the character Venom.

"The Origin History of Venom begins with the creature that would become Venom being born to a race of extra-terrestrial symbiotes which lived by possessing the bodies of other life-forms. These parasites would empower their victims with superior physical abilities at the cost of fatally draining them of adrenaline." (Marvel, Trading Cards)

61dogB4UG2L._SX319_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg

In 1994 I discovered Venom in the Maximum Carnage Series comic line. Today, from the Sony's SDCC 2018 trailer , Venom is a "anti-hero." OooOOoohhhhH SHIT!?!?!? Perhaps Sony is attempting to cash-in on the Deadpool anti-hero character?

Venom is not an antihero.

Eddie Brock, the first carrier of the symbiotes, has a bitter hatred for Spider-Man.  Peter Parker however, in this movie universe by Sony, is a teenager and Sony may hide Venom's insatiable hatred for Spider-man. Tom Hardy, looks badass and if given the correct direction in the movie depicting an antihero this may not be a bad idea for the marketing value of this particular character. However, given the history of the two arch-rivals, there needs to be a face-off in the Marvel universe between Spider-Man and Venom. Perhaps Sony is marketing with the approach of the Deadpool antihero character but you will not find any comedy in Venom. If Sony is pushing that whitty on-screen puns from previous Marvel movies, I doubt movie goers will be convinced. This is my subjective opinion but from the looks of the trailers, no comedy here. I would like this movie to stay this way.

Venom is not the happy-go antihero as Deadpool.

There is a sense of uncertainty with this movie. The main concern is no Spider-Man. Venom is a standalone movie that may, in the future, have a crossover. Sony has to tread lightly with the crossover, as Peter in the Marvel movie universe is still a teenager. Society may not receive a grown man having a hatred for a teenager Spider-Man. Regardless, the reviews and reactions are mixed and nothing really is totally negative, or positive. As stated, there is a level of uncertainty of how Sony's Venom will fair with audiences and most importantly, the box office.

Star Trek Discovery Season 2 the Saving Grace of San Diego Comic-Con 2018

Discover the next adventure of Starfleet. Watch the first look trailer of the highly anticipated season two premiere of Star Trek: Discovery, which makes its epic return to CBS All Access in early 2019! Premiered at Comic-Con International in San Diego during the series' Hall H panel with cast and executive producers, this trailer previews the continued voyage of the U.S.S.

Star Trek Discovery (STD) in my opinion and observation at SDCC 2018 is possibly the only saving grace of the convention. SDCC 2018 streamed live and premiered the trailer for Star Trek Discovery getting over 6.8 million views. STD by far surprised skeptics that the show would be a hit! This is great for Gene Roddenberry‘s universe and the Star Trek franchise. In 2005, Star Trek Enterprise series ended, not on a great note for fans and arguably the least watched prime-time television show of the Star Trek universe. STD has brought back Gene Roddenberry's universe in the universe that we know from the continuum of the beloved Star Trek The Original Series, Next Generation, Deep Space 9 and Voyager. The Star Trek movies of recent are in a different universe and can be explained in this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuCbW1AOblo The multi-verse, seems to be a continual show and film production excuse to "experiment" with show classic timelines. If the show, or movie, sucked then the writers and developers can have an excusable dismissal of the failed attempt.  Directors and producers can always deflect fans that it is a "multi-verse," geeks and hardcore fanboys can say "OoOOoOOO its a different universe!" I can go on and on about how the multi-verse affects different re-imagined shows and movies.

Nevertheless, I encourage viewers to please check-out Star Trek Discovery Season 1. The great aspect of STD is its ability to attract non-traditional Trekkies and Geeks.  The show stays true to Gene Roddenberry's vision that humanity could be in a peaceful coexisting Federation of planets living in conjunction with those different from humanity. Humanity have set aside the issues that plague our present day society: racism, stereotyping, political feuds and indifference.

I encourage all to watch Star Trek Discovery and if you never been a Star Trek fan, this show will definitely make you one.

E3 2018 PRESS CONFERENCE REACTION and Review: XBOX and PlayStation

Oh shit! OHhhHH where do I begin and where do I start !?!?

Since Saturday I have been attending conferences at E3 especially, Microsoft Xbox! I am very ecstatic that Microsoft changed the briefing to the Microsoft Theater! Logically making sense that Microsoft would have the briefing at their own theater! Originally the Galen Center started at 8 AM on Monday but Sunday at 1 PM fits perfectly because you don’t have the general rush of morning traffic in downtown LA.

XBOX PANORAMA E3 2018

IMG_3259.PNG

Alright I got that rant out-of-the-way. Microsoft came out strong this year and my take away is the announcement of 50 games and 15 exclusive titles! Just fucking bad ass however, I do wish that Executive President of Xbox Phil Spencer or, one of the game chief designers would discuss HDR and hit home with the capabilities of Xbox One X. Microsoft did not talk about HDR, or “high dynamic range” and 5K IPS nanotechnology which the Xbox One X is very capable of! Developers are still pinching their peanuts to develop games at this level! Here is one reason why I am a PC gamer because the visuals for me as a tech-guy are far beyond a console... however, of course the console is the most affordable type of gaming. Honestly Todd Howard (Bethesda Head Director) has always kept it real and taking their time with serious games taking advantage of high-quality visuals and great torytelling. @bethesda launched the original titles from DOOM, Quake and Wolfenstein! For me, the Fallout franchise has always been my favorite and  I’ve always stated to “nuke everyone!”... not literally but when society gets on my nerves. FBI I DID NOT MEAN THAT LITERALLY! The announcement of Fallout 76 with MMO-type game-play , collectors edition power suit helmet and glow in the dark map of the world! FHUcK Yeahhh !

IMG_3258.PNG

All the Microsoft Xbox conference hit it out of the park with her new titles exclusive’s and demonstrating the power of the Xbox One X.

SONY PLAYSTATION PANORAMA E3 2018

SONY PLAYSTATION PANORAMA E3 2018

Sony PlayStation's review and takeaway for me has not been as strong in the past year with the conferences. I do approve of the limitation of the media invites to only those who are actually in the media and industry instead of Twitch streamers all over the place! I consider Twitch streamers not media. Sony put us in a room decorated in the scheme of the Last of Us 2  which is the world premiere of the popular survival-game. Overall, Sony takes care of their people with constant bombardment of refreshments, quality drinks, and spending a shit ton of money on pampering the industry. NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT! Perhaps the other big names could do the same. Food is the key to anyone's heart. Speaking of Hearts! KINGDOM HEARTS 3. My money is already in-line with the PS4 Collectors Edition. Possibly the oddest and for some reviewers "innovative" game is Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding. I do not know where to start with the direction and storyline of this title but I can say the video rendering is sexy as fuck! The facial rendering from the real-life actors/actress is beauitful and definately shows off Playstation's AMD chip!

IMG_3303.JPG

Overall both conferences had their big title contenders but I must say that for me, Xbox came out the stronger. In the past Sony has been kicking Xbox ass with popular titles like God of War! Nevertheless, the traction of the Xbox wheels have hit ground and Phil Spencer even teased a "next-gen console."

Thanks for reading...

WonderCon March 23-25 2018 Press Review

Wondercon has always been a "family" convention that caters mostly to independent artist, vendors, and most important COMICS! Unlike the big brother San Diego Comic Con that promotes the large television networks, movie tycoons and mass-marketing to the main stream media. Wondercon stays true to its humble origins. My first Wondercon attended was 2009 and Yes! it is still crowded as FHUUUCK but hey its a great place to be for the family. What is great about Wondercon is the pricing of the passes. Once again the big brother SDCC sells passes way into the $500 range on eBay, Offerup and Craigslist for preview night and 4-Days! Registering for SDCC is madness compared to Wondercon.  Wondercon has the same atmosphere minus the almighty mass-media and celebrities. Wondercon passes were sold-out for Friday and Saturday but Sunday bargain day is just $20!

Of course myself and Helen are Press, so our badges are complimentary.

In the end Wondercon is still a must-see event and although growing in the past years, I really appreciate all the independent artist, signed artist, vendors and collectors on the expo floor. The management staff does a great job with security and the new system of scanning passes to weed-out the trouble makers creates a humble experience for anyone looking to attend a Comic Book Convention!

Great Job WonderCon see you next year!

Other than what I observered WonderCon is another great experience and I personally feel is better than SDCC.

Taking photos is my assistant Helen Vee. She really enjoyed the History of Comic Books in Conference Room 210 which made me realize just how many talented artist from other cultures and countries go unnoticed. A spectacular panel and a knowledgeable speaker from Rice University speaking on his research of comic books and artist from Mexico and other countries!

NAMM Show PRO AUDIO Saturday and Sunday January 27-28th 2018 REVIEW

IMG_1110.JPG

Saturday January 27th at NAMM 2018 I covered the Pro Audio section and it brought me back to a time in my early 20's with noOoOo money, tinkering with the idea of becoming a “recording engineer.” For me, back in the early 2000's I played in several rock bands and fell in love with the prospect of "recording." Every decade has innovations and in that time-frame line-ins analog to digital for example, came in 8 channel firewire or SCSI PCI driven recording interfaces.  PCI express, USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt did not exist. The early 2000’s was a big push from analog to digital recording but the communication outputs/inputs still needed innovation. Cubase, Pro Tools, Presonus, Roland and MOTU were among the brands I remembered pioneering digital interfaces. It was great to see some of these brands still innovating and pushing the quality of sound engineering from analog to digital at NAMM 2018.

The kids today and professionals now have their hands on a wide variety in the market to choose from. Pro Audio is streamlined and very easy to proclaim oneself a “recording artist” when a “musician” can be at home with an iPad and input-interface from lets say Rode, open up the software, input the XLR/1'4" instrument cable, and start recording right away!! Here is where I have my subjective opinion about what a musician is... there are some out there who are digital musicians meaning they never played in a marching band, guitar, bass guitar or drums. The modern day "digital musician," as I like to prescribe, get all their sounds from sampled software. The individual will purchase software with pre-recorded sounds, figure-out the software, then take one of those money gobbling recording engineering classes posted on buses or billboards. Now they are a "sound engineer!" The individual understands the Metronome and start to lay down tracks!  It is all done in the software.  Technology has advanced, streamlined and it is that simplified.

Any turd can be a self proclaimed recording artist whether it be PC or Apple products. Processors today have 4 to 10 cores paired with strong motherboards, Solid State Hard Drives and communication outputs like Thunderbolt (Apple), USB 3.0, or PCI Express. The bandwidth from analog to digital has been perfected because back in the early 2000‘s when I started, for example, a MOTU 8 input firewire technology was not efficient, you NEEDED a strong AMD or Intel chip otherwise you will get a lot of background noise in your recording and sometimes a ticking noise from the magnetic hard drive spinning parts at 7200 rpm. Now the glory of the solid-state hard drive is instantaneous data transfers communicating with Thunderbolt... it’s just amazing what the recording industry has become from analog to digital. The software out at NAMM 2018 is marketed to that intermediate person and with time the person can become a professional sound engineer. The consumer can get their hands on literally vintage sounds to modern digital sounds all within a packaged software. However, there is still a fine line between the "recording engineer" and a "producer," that actually understands mixing and mastering. Mixing and Mastering tracks is what distinguishes the "PRO"-ducer from the recording engineer.

I am glad to notice at NAMM 2018 huddled in small groups those old-school mixed in with the new school technology, sound professionals, that blended analog and digital. I personally enjoy the sound engineer/producer blending analog and digital utilizing mixer's, microphones and live-sound inputted into a digital interface. Pro audio is still costly and if you cannot afford the nice beautiful microphones and preamps, the market offers line-in interface devices and  software that programs your guitar sound or piano, into digital and you can select over thousands of types of percussion, cabinet speakers,  guitar amplifiers, and microphone presets  or  “samples.”

In the end, I enjoyed my time and invitation to NAMM 2018. There was just too much to see, review, and demonstrate in a few days. What I have noticed is how simplified the market has become. Anyone can be a recording artist with the right knack and whit, one can piece together music whether be R&B, Rap, DJ, Rock Bands, Metal, Country, and Classical, the music industry is indeed digital.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi RIAN JOHNSON GARBAGE!

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi RIAN JOHNSON GARBAGE!

IMG_0540.jpg

Born in 1982 a couple of years after the release of The Empire Strikes Back , in 1983 my parents took my baby-ass to watch Return of the Jedi. Of course, I didn’t remember that time-frame but in the mid-80s as a spawning child of Star Wars fandom! I would watch the trilogy on VHS or sometimes Betamax. As a 7 year old kid awestruck about Luke Skywalker, Han Solo with his scoundrel ways, and the princess that glued everybody together but now in the modern day were Disney owns LucasArts the tyrant Disney needs to revenue $6 billion a year other than that it goes back to George Lucas. **CROSSING MY FINGERS FOR THIS***

I have to say that JJ Abrams' Force Awakens and Gareth Edwards' Rogue One really brought me back to that good spot of wanting more about Star Wars. It brought the yearning of wanting to learn more about the lore and universe of Star Wars. However, this director Rian Johnson’s Last Jedi I have none of those feelings once again!!! This is probably the worst feeling I felt since Star Wars Episode I. Now to be "politically" correct I am a "legends" fanboy and follower of the lore established in the original "Expanded Universe" created by graphic novels, novels, and Dark Horse Comics.  Disney has since dissolved the expanded universe and is not canon, now Disney draws from legends like a siphoning locust(s) to bring badass ideas back to THEIR Star Wars Lore.  Disney calls it Star Wars "Canon" and since seeing the Last Jedi, I find myself in a difficult spot much like Mark Hamill is when he agreed to redo his role for the Last Jedi. I agree with Mark Hamill’s personification as well as his temperament behind Luke's character in this film.  Mark's  portrayal of Luke Skywalker some would say sucked but I honestly feel Mark acted as if he did not care because HE DID NOT CARE. In the many interviews with Mark Hamill prior to release of the film he often replied snarky and snobbish. Mark is an intelligent mother fucker and he knows what he is doing. He IS the Joker from the 90s Batman the Animated Series and made a great career from his voice acting. Mark distrust Disney and I commend him for that!

The Last Jedi took me at moments in the movie where I was jaw-dropping, meaning it didn’t make any sense to bring Leia back from her space explosion! Above all, killing off Admiral Akbar, the hero of the Battle of Endor, the admiral who destroyed the Superstar Destroyer: Executor in a matter of seconds, Ackbar was dead!

DEATH OF ADMIRAL ACKBAR IN A FEW SECONDS THE HERO OF ENDOR???!!! WHAT THE FUCK RIAN JOHNSON!!!!

DEATH OF ADMIRAL ACKBAR IN A FEW SECONDS THE HERO OF ENDOR???!!! WHAT THE FUCK RIAN JOHNSON!!!!

This movie has millennial all over it handing off the movie to these new characters which, I am not convinced and awe struck. I am not buying into Disney's new characters. They do not have strong screen presence like Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill!

I admit that the movie is visually stunning and if you’re into HDR Cinema, this shits for you! This movie will not disappoint visually but in terms of substance and character development taking place directly after Force Awakens. Rian Johnson could’ve built upon the plots created by JJ Abrams, Rian destroyed H O P E itself that the Star Wars franchise was going in an awe-struck direction as Abrams laid out in Episode 7.  Perhaps the Disney executives stated "we don’t care how Luke Skywalker dies... we don’t care how Supreme Leader Snoke dies... just make it happen" and tool Rian Johnson fucked it all up! Rian Johnson created the worst sequel in Star Wars history. What the fuck was the throne room for Snoke? A magnifying glass and red back drop? Granted his guards were sick and battle-hardened but again no explanation of Snoke, his guards, his powers, where he came from and most importantly Kylo revelaing (or lying) about Rey being a trash rat left at Jakku. If Snoke is all powerful how the fuck could he not see the lightsaber, feel Kylo's force tug of the lightsaber? SPEAKING OF THE LIGHTSABER...ANAKIN'S RELIC HAS BEEN DESTROYED. THEEEEE LIGHTSABER of the Clone Wars, killer of Dooku, killer of Jedi's and Sith, the lightsaber used in the duel between Obi-Wan and the very saber that dueled Vader from Luke. IT IS ALL GONE! FUCK YOU RIAN JOHNSON!

The other sub-plots that transpired failed miserably. I get it, Luke only had a few days or maybe a week with Master Yoda in Empire. Luke had to find a lot of himself through what Jedi training he acquired from his instructors. What made Luke special is that he pieced and gathered relics of Jedi teachings. ON HIS OWN!!! Rey, on the other hand she learned how to become a duelist in a matter of days??? To learning and mastering moving boulders?? For me Luke Skywalker's greatest achievement was facing Darth Vader on his own, being tempted by the Dark-side, losing his hand in a light saber duel with Vader and finding that his father is Anakin/Vader all the same!

Now in comparison, I began to understand more about  Kylo Ren after Awakens. In this film however, Kylo has yet to experience any of these emotions as Luke/Anakin did. Again it’s the millennial backdrop of self-gratification and quick gratification for this movie. The story is pushed all on Rey  as the all-powerful light and Kylo Ren is all-powerful in the dark. Both brats were handed factions:  remnants of the Empire to Kylo and remnants of the Rebellion to Rey! None of these two characters did anything extraordinary as the classic characters performed in the first movie(s). All the emotions that Luke Skywalker, Han or Leia experienced destroyed in the Last Jedi

I am not 100 percent hating on Star Wars entire franchise but definitely, I am disappointed in the direction that Rian Johnson under Diseny's tyranny took the franchise. Mark Hamill stated the best ...

"Disney does not care about quality... they care about quantity and making money!"

ALIVE! Awesome! BADASS! Stan Lee's Comic Con 2017 @ Los Angeles Convention Center

Considering all the generations that have spanned comic books, Stan Lee is the love and modern imagery taken straight from Golden Comic era! It is SO AMAZING how he is A L I V E and well taking the time to meet and greet a generation(s) spanning decades!

IMG_1777.JPG

The comic craze shows no signs of slowing down and Stan Lee's Comic Con is the next stop for fans who just can't get enough.

Just asking around the populace of the convention "I've been a big fan all my life. I want an autograph and this is my chance right now."

The weekend convention will include appearances by a number of comic legends, but Comikaze CEO Keith Tralins admits Stan Lee is the key to the convention. "We have the creator of Deadpool too, but Stan is the man," said Tralins.

Of course the fans and their elaborate costumes are a big part of the show too, and what better place to perfect your look?

Merchants like Steve Chiang say it's all about living your fantasy. "Where else can they dress up and wear their costume? People see you as a celebrity," said Chiang.

A massive industry flourishes around the iconic characters of Comic Con, and many of them were created by the star of the show, Stan Lee.

Stan Lee's L.A. Comic Con is dominating the L.A. Convention Center this weekend for its seventh year, giving pop culture-obsessives the chance to show off their best cosplay and geek out among fellow fans—and all, conveniently, just in time for Halloween. From Megara to Handmaids to Sailor Moon to Captain America, every iconic pop culture figure was represented in some costume or another this weekend.

The convention isn't just for fans, though—small businesses, comic book artists, printing companies, and more use the opportunity to exhibit their wares and build their brands.

The L.A. Comic Con was first introduced in 2011 as a local alternative to San Diego's massive annual Comic Con. It was originally called Comikaze, later becoming Stan Lee's Comikaze after the original creators partnered with Stan Lee and his company to grow the event. The 2016 event was the first event under the name Stan Lee's L.A. Comic Con.

This year's event featured panels with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Katee Sackhoff, Chloe Bennet, and other iconic sci-fi, fantasy, and superhero actors. It also featured discussions and workshops on things like the legacy of Lord of the Rings and how to best navigate Hollywood. During The Rock's panel, he briefly touched on a possible presidency run. “I think the ‘People’s President’ has a really nice ring to that. I’ll just say that,” he said, according to Entertainment Weekly. The idea has been thrown around ever since the Rock spoke to Vanity Fair last November that he "wouldn't rule it out."

I cannot imagine a L.A. Comic Con without Stan Lee...we are blessed to have his presence once again for another year! Stan Lee electrifies the community in all aspects creating constant imagery with his signature Member's Only Jacket, New Balance shoes, and khaki style Dockers.

Carrie Fisher Passes at 60 Star Wars Fandom Sadom

Carrie Fisher, the actress best known as Star Wars‘ Princess Leia Organa, has died after suffering a heart attack. She was 60. I am sadden for the lost and although I may not have been a Star Wars Fan for very long, it is sadden to know that the community has lost one of the greatest pop-culture personalities of the movie genre: Sci-Fi Fantasy. Carrie Fisher is and will always be an iconic figure to the Star Wars community.

Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement to PEOPLE on behalf of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd:

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement.

Fisher was flying from London to Los Angeles on Friday, Dec. 23, when she went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics removed her from the flight and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for a heart attack. She later died in the hospital.

In a statement released on behalf of Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd, spokesman Simon Halls said: "It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8.55 this morning.

"She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers."

The daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher made her film debut opposite Warren Beatty in 1975's Shampoo.

But far greater fame was to follow when she played Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, a role she reprise in last year's reboot The Force Awakens.

She endured a difficult private life, and has often discussed her years of mental illness and drug addiction.

Definitely, from a women's standpoint, looking at her past photo shoots and realizing how much of pop culture icon she was and will be etched in stardom. Her look is represented in many women today and Carrie Fisher was doing this back in 1977. I applaud her fiery personality and outlook on her career.

Star Wars Rogue One Reaction from a Non Fan

Star Wars Rogue One Reaction from a Non Fan

The first of the new series of Star Wars spin-offs (or “anthology” films), this standalone installment sits between the last of George Lucas’s disappointing digital prequels Revenge of the Sith and his winningly physical original Star Wars. Fittingly, British director Gareth Edwards’s dark and moody space opera bridges the gap between the old-school 70s charm and ultra-modern 21st-century wizardry of this still evolving series. Despite using cutting-edge CGI to breathe uncanny artificial life into characters we never thought we’d see again, Rogue One feels like part of the same cinematic universe that gave us The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

I felt this movie, from a person that never watched the prequels, original, found this to be a spectacular film. Not knowing the plot going into the film, Rogue One brought all of those elements to explain the story line. Felicity Jones I support wholeheartedly due to her compassionate and overtly leader ship acting she brings to Rogue One.

“Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire”, ran the opening scrawl of Lucas’s original 1977 film. “During the battle, rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the Death Star”. From such slender source material, the Rogue One writers (four are credited) spin a surprisingly solid tale in which the heroes and villains of yore are mediated by murky shades of grey. Musically, an attention-grabbing opening stab (rather than John Williams’s traditional triumphant fanfare) leads us to the black Icelandic sands of Lah’mu, where Ben Mendelsohn’s Orson Krennic demands that Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) return to help the Empire create its “peacekeeping” super-weapon.

“You’re confusing peace with terror,” protests Erso, to which Krennic sneers: “Well, you have to start somewhere.” Evading capture, Erso’s young daughter Jyn (Beau Gadsdon) is raised by rogue rebel Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker), at whose knee she learns harsh truths about fighting for a cause. “You can stand to see the imperial flag reign across the galaxy?” demands Saw when Jyn returns to his orbit years later, now an angry and isolated loner and played by Felicity Jones. Her answer? “It’s not a problem if you don’t look up…”

The rest of the movie is primarily concerned with Jones’s Jyn “looking up” – rekindling her rebel girl spirit to lead the resistance in search of those Death Star plans. Having cut his teeth on the character-led sci-fi of Monsters, Edwards allows Jyn ample time to find her feet. Like James Cameron’s Aliens, Rogue One is essentially a war movie built around the evolution of a punchy heroine, and Jones has that same blend of pain and chin-forward resolve that characterised Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley. Even as the gung-ho battle scenes evoke iconic images of the chaos of Normandy and Vietnam, Edwards keeps us focused on the faces of his core cast – a dazzlingly diverse array who provide the film’s true heartbeat.

In my overall opinion, as a non-Star Wars fanatic, this stand alone movie was enough to convince me to be a fan. Although over the top for my style of movie viewing, Star Wars now has a place in my journalistic view. I never watched the older movies and will most likely go back and review them.

Blizzcon 2016 Stellar Cosplay & 10th Year Anniversary

Blizzcon has always been a place where ultra gaming nerds can converge at Anaheim Convention Center and be accepted for who they are, what they play, and especially what they wear!

Another successful Blizzcon and 10 year anniversary from the first Blizzcon in 2005 (skipping  a year in between 2016). Regardless, I was there missing only 2013 Blizzcon! I was very much part of the entire mascaraed from start until finish. This year majority of my time was spent outside the convention, browsing the illustrious cosplayers, their strive for excellence, and each one bringing to life the characters they enjoy to play! It is definitely amazing to note that from a media and photographer perspective the level of detail each year these individuals bring towards their cosplay. The bar definitely rises each time I come t Blizzcon.

Blizzcon is special in this way. For me it is the end of the year convetion where gamers and enthusiast can decompress. Especially for someone like myself that ventrues across the nation in search of the next best con! Blizzcon has always been one of my favorites. The after parties are generailly where one needs to be at the Hilton lobby. Drinks, music, hotties, and industry all gather in one area and party until the dark hours of the night!

I for one enjoyed Blizzcon 2016 this year and found many of thier news announcements to no surprise beginning with Oeverwatch new hero Sombra.

Blizzard is aggressively pushing their online streaming service with their game client and of course Esports...below are the winners for each segment represented at Blizzcon 2016.

Hearthstone® World Championship

Winner: Pavel

For the first time in the history of the Hearthstone World Championship, two players from Europe squared off against one another in the Grand Finals at BlizzCon. In a tense series, Russia’s Pavel defeated his Ukrainian opponent DrHippi 4–2 to claim the title of 2016 Hearthstone World Champion.

Heroes of the Storm® Fall Championship

Winning team: Ballistix Gaming

Ballistix Gaming from Korea took home the Fall Championship trophy after a grueling final series with Sweden’s Fnatic, who had just taken down the favorites, MVP Black, in the semifinals. Incredibly, Ballistix dropped only two battlegrounds over the course of the event.

World of Warcraft® Arena World Championship

Winning team: Splyce

In perhaps the most epic World of Warcraft Arena Grand Finals match to ever take place on the BlizzCon stage, the defending champions, Splyce, bested Method NA in a nerve-wrecking 7-game series, becoming the first team ever to win back-to-back titles.

Overwatch® World Cup

Winning country: South Korea

With dominant performance after dominant performance, South Korea became the first winners of the Overwatch World Cup in front of a packed BlizzCon arena. Besting tournament heavyweights USA, Sweden, and Russia en route to the final, South Korea didn’t drop a single game.

Blizzard also used the occasion to reveal its plans for the Overwatch League, a world-class sports ecosystem for professional Overwatch competition that’s launching in 2017. The Overwatch League will bring together some of the best elements of esports and traditional sports to create an experience that’s accessible and sustainable for players, teams, and fans.

Hollywood, CA in front of Graumans Egyptian Theater! 8.27.16 Photo by Ryan Quon with Cosplayer Amouranth

Amouranth, a Cosplayer from Houston, Texas flew down for a photo-shoot with her cosplay outfit: TRACER from Blizzard's hit game Overwatch. I will be uploading additional videos from our Universal Studios Walk and Hollywood, CA

Amouranth is also a Twitch Streamer typically on daily at CST 930PM-1AM.

What I enjoy about Kaitlyn aka Amouranth, is that she builds her own cosplay outfit from scratch. I wanted to capture her in an interview to talk a little bit more about her hard work. The meticulous effort, time, and rigorous construction behind her outfit must not be unnoticed! Kaitlyn worked around the clock to finish hand painting the particle accelerator, inserting the LEDs and making sure her outfit was ready for the photo shoot! It was amazing to realize that she had not fitted the entire cosplay outfit until she ARRIVED in Los Angeles. Her measurements were flawless and in person, the outfit is stellar!

Our adventure actually started in the studio and then took a trip to on-site locations to shoot natural-light photography. My 2012 4x4 Tacoma (had to add this shit in here) took us into the Mohave Desert to shoot Rey and Kylo Ren. From there we took photos in the San Gabriel Mountains and on the weekend we went to Hollywood Blvd to live-shoot Tracer Cosplay!

All in all it was a ton of fun and tiresome. Kaitlyn pushed herself to physical and mental fatigue by not only braving the heat in her outfits but also looking stellar when we streamed at night. Kaitlyn did not want to leave! She absolutely loved the weather here in Southern California. So much to do with so little time with her, I had scheduled more agenda items on our planner. If only this super personality lived closer we could do and perform so much more creative work!

Another Comic Con Come and Gone 2016

Since the early 2000s I have ventrued to the land of San Diego...although the area has not changed much with homeless wandering about the area and random beggars around Petco Park...the allure of SDCC is all too popular to ignore!

I must point out that this 2016 Con was not at all as "substanced" as previous years. What do I mean by that? It is now a playing ground for popular big-named studios to vie with big budgets in order to secure network rights to broadcast SDCC. What I have noticed...and I will elaborate on this in a bit...is that the small-time media (me) and production crews have all but disappeared. This is truly sad. No longer do I see small media at the con in the form of journalistic, broadcast, and bloggers. One would only need to connect the dots and am sure the big and nasty "Hollywood Studios" had influence over the small media businesses. This is what the original Comic Con was about...in fact, Star Wars was the first film ever to be premiered at SDCC and George Lucas has always wrestled with the large production studios...and this is why. Although small media has been squashed, sort of speak, their existence still persist but in smaller numbers and replaced in favor of more $$$ Lucrative avenues for the Convention Management and Comic Con itself!

SMALL MEDIA MADE COMIC CON THE WAY IT IS NOW...

I had a difficult discussion with the Media Press box at the Convention. I will not name names but the new directive and rules for media are...

1. Followers

2. Content

3. Consistency

I get it...however, I work for a University...a University does not have followers. The Cons have changed over the years and now advertise and employ beautiful Cosplayers and models to venture the Con...Families and first-timers to SDCC may suck-it-all-in with photos and selfies but they fail to see the legacy of SDCC going sour. Do not get me WRONG...SDCC is still a great place to be for all the information you need granted, you need to know what your going there for...I go there for business and not so much pleasure but it bothers the FUCK out of me when I cannot get an interview, a SDCC exclusive because the 9 snotty teenagers and family of 7 beat me to the collectible exclusives! FUUUUUCK! Then the fucks sell it on Ebay. FUCK YOU!

FUCKING LINES FOR A TRACER OVERWATCH SDCC EXCLUSIVE! SOLD OUT at $150 EA AND NOW ON EBAY FOR $500-800

FUCKING LINES FOR A TRACER OVERWATCH SDCC EXCLUSIVE! SOLD OUT at $150 EA AND NOW ON EBAY FOR $500-800

I love the Cosplayers. I support many independent Cosplayers...but shit...I cannot perform business duties at SDCC anymore without the lines and headache of families...SIGH.

Like anything else in this world markets become saturated. Comic Con now attracts too many for its area to handle. Las Vegas and Los Angeles would be ideal because of the space. However, Comic Con has its roots in San Diego and a huge blockbuster of income for the city. I get that...however, the Convention  and Comic Con management has gotten fat off the large production studios that they no longer need people like me. I get it...in fact this was OPENLY admitted by the supervisor in charge of the Media Booth. I gave her my opinion in the most logical and non-aggressiveness tone and she understood. She admitted that in the past small media was the means to get SDCC popular but now "things are different." G-G corporate Murica! FUCK! Now the one thing I enjoy going to every summer has turned a blind eye to even the original bloggers, media, broadcasters, and independent companies that MADE and SUPPORTED Comic Con in the past 15 years since its explosion in 2008!

The one take-away from this year is the DC movies...I am a prolific reader and collector of DC and must say...Wonder Woman...I love you... Her stand alone movie will kick some fucking ass!

E3 2016 Media Review Industry Changes, Trolls, Thiefs, & Peasants Xbox Vs Playstation STAR TREK VR

Another year has come and another E3 is in the books for this guy. I have to say that over the 10 years of attending I have never had a complaint until now. First of all the Expo went about with no incidences...and we all know in this day in age what those "incidences" can be. For the most part I had another great experience. ALL except two phenomenal things...

1. I understand the E3 Expo management is marketing more toward the masses. Meaning those who are not in the industry but are the general public that buys and plays the games. I get it, money is God. However, the main purpose of E3 in the past, at least for me, was to experience first-hand from a media/developer/investor before the game reaches store shelves. This meant NO lines, NO kids, and NO scalpers. This leads me to number two complaint.

2. With this year being 70,000 attendees that broke down to 53,000 industry professionals (me) and 20,000 fans (peasants) whom steal, troll and take-up spots to demo the latest and greatest innovations. I love E3 and will hope to continue to attend without hearing about a vendor losing gear to people who attend. E3 used to be 100% professional. It still is for those who respect those measures. Meaning professional attire, dress, and conduct. These rules are not measured and enforced anymore. We have peasants coming into the Expo who want free "swag" to sell on Ebay. This is disgusting. This disgust me and those whom are attending the expo for gaming purposes.

SIGH...I cannot stress anymore but please watch my video blog below because what I cannot express in words will be addressed physically on video.

Overall, E3 has put together yet another fantastic experience and safe environment. I do know that the Expo is leading more towards public exposure for example, PAX.

Star Trek Geeks! Independent Film Star Trek:Horizon, Axanar vs CBS/Paramount and Star Trek TV Series

O..K! YES! I for one am pushing and have been pushing for independent film makers to continue to create online content such as this...Star Trek: Horizon

Star Trek - Horizon is a feature-length fan film made by a single filmmaker as a personal passion project and love letter to Enterprise, the fifth Star Trek series. Pre-production began in December of 2012 and this 3-year-long odyssey concluded on February 25th, 2016. It's been a long road, getting from there to here.

The Coalition of Planets, a young alliance of worlds led by Earth, is at war with the Romulan Empire. Desperate for a chance to gain the upper hand in the war, the Coalition forms an alliance with T'mar, a Romulan deserter, in the hopes that she can provide valuable intelligence on her former masters.

Please click the link above and support independent film makers that take that extra leap into story telling without the constraints of large productions companies, licensing, and unfortunate budget constraints. No point intended to Paramount. The Star Trek Universe has been in limbo with the advent of the "re-imagined" JJ Abrahms Star Trek and the classic universe we come to enjoy. At least for those that enjoyed the classic universe listed below...

Another independent group pushing their film Star Trek: Axanar, which the group is currently locked in difficulties with Paramaount regarding legal issues. Why did CBS/Paramount open a complaint to the people of Axanar?

A month ago, CBS Corporation and Paramount Pictures Inc. filed a copyright infringement suit against Alec Peters and his Axanar production and Peters is speaking out about the suit.

Axanar is badass and definitely supposes the usual fan-produced movie. According to Peters. “There’s a reason why Prelude to Axanar and Axanar look like professional movies, because we have professionals working on them,” he stated. “These are professionals. They do this for a living. They’re not fans who are voice actors, or Elvis impersonators who have a hobby and have always wanted to play Captain Kirk. That’s not to knock fan films. I’m just saying, if you want volunteers, you get a certain quality. You want professionals? You’ve got to pay for them. It’s real simple.”

Some of the bogus reasons Peter believes that Axanar were targeted was due to the professional quality of the production. “It’s real simple,” he said. “Because of our quality. “Star Trek Continues is a fan film. Amateur actors, beautiful sets, well-done photography. But it’s a fan film. There’s no way you take that for a real TV show. Star Trek: New Voyages? Fan film. It looks good — well directed — but no one’s ever going to take that for a network TV show.”

According to Paramount and CBS, Star Trek is a “treasured franchise in which CBS andParamount continue to produce new original content for its large universe of fans. The producers of Axanar are making a Star Trek picture they describe themselves as a fully professional, independent Star Trek film. So throwing poop at one another if you really look at the differences between Axanar and CBS/Paramount, they are truly two different entities set on the intent of gaining Star Trek film support. In my opinion CBS/Paramount are doing itself a dis-favor by not favoring and promoting independent film makers like Axanar

“We don’t use the chevron. We don’t use the uniforms you’re used to seeing. We don’t use (the Original Series) bridge or sets. Those two productions are entirely copyright infringement.”

One could surmise that because Axanar and its popular following (myself included) donated...let me point this out better...D O N A T E D over-time little over a million dollars caught the attention of Paramount and CBS ...Booo Hooo Paramount and CBS cannot play in the sandbox because their films have not gotten the following they hoped for with their new "universe." It is a pathetic ploy of tactics to under mind something as beautiful as Axanar.

So my support goes out to Axanar and a supporter since their panel at Comicon 2015...please fight on!

So on the flip side, CBS/Paramount and their camp have announced a new Star Trek TV series. The news on the new Star Trek television series — which is set to premiere in January of next 2017 on the CBS All Access digital platform (OoOooO..another large production gimmick). Bryan Fuller, former executive producer and creator of such beloved shows as Hannibal,Pushing Daisies  and Wonderfalls, has agreed to develop the latest TV universe of Trek. This was viewed as great news, because not only does Fuller make great TV, but he got his start professionally as a writer on Deep Space Nine and Voyager, and is himself a lifelong Trekker.

In addition, CBS/Paramount has announced that joining Fuller on the new series would be writer/director Nicholas Meyer. He will be a consulting producer and staff writer. Meyer is significantly important to Trek fans, he directed Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn, easily considered the greatest of all the Star Trek classic films. He also co-wrote Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, and wrote and directed Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Basically, he had a hand in the very best chapters of the original Star Trek film series, and has a firm grasp on what makes Star Trek STAR TREK

I am heavily excited about this new Star Trek push and regardless of how CBS/Paramount targets independent film makers, it should be considered overall that Star Trek is alive and well in the modern cinema era. It is too bad that the principles of Ray Bradbury's original concept of Star Trek was about how humanity can BE and could BE better. Sadly, our humanity currently will forever be locked in pathetic struggles and Ray's vision of how humanity could be will be etched only in science fiction.
