VENOM, will Sony's Anti-Hero cash-in at the box office?

37425865_1017738985057833_7214021370387103744_o.png

Let’s talk about the character Venom.

"The Origin History of Venom begins with the creature that would become Venom being born to a race of extra-terrestrial symbiotes which lived by possessing the bodies of other life-forms. These parasites would empower their victims with superior physical abilities at the cost of fatally draining them of adrenaline." (Marvel, Trading Cards)

In 1994 I discovered Venom in the Maximum Carnage Series comic line. Today, from the Sony's SDCC 2018 trailer , Venom is a "anti-hero." OooOOoohhhhH SHIT!?!?!? Perhaps Sony is attempting to cash-in on the Deadpool anti-hero character?

Venom is not an antihero.

Eddie Brock, the first carrier of the symbiotes, has a bitter hatred for Spider-Man.  Peter Parker however, in this movie universe by Sony, is a teenager and Sony may hide Venom's insatiable hatred for Spider-man. Tom Hardy, looks badass and if given the correct direction in the movie depicting an antihero this may not be a bad idea for the marketing value of this particular character. However, given the history of the two arch-rivals, there needs to be a face-off in the Marvel universe between Spider-Man and Venom. Perhaps Sony is marketing with the approach of the Deadpool antihero character but you will not find any comedy in Venom. If Sony is pushing that whitty on-screen puns from previous Marvel movies, I doubt movie goers will be convinced. This is my subjective opinion but from the looks of the trailers, no comedy here. I would like this movie to stay this way.

Venom is not the happy-go antihero as Deadpool.

There is a sense of uncertainty with this movie. The main concern is no Spider-Man. Venom is a standalone movie that may, in the future, have a crossover. Sony has to tread lightly with the crossover, as Peter in the Marvel movie universe is still a teenager. Society may not receive a grown man having a hatred for a teenager Spider-Man. Regardless, the reviews and reactions are mixed and nothing really is totally negative, or positive. As stated, there is a level of uncertainty of how Sony's Venom will fair with audiences and most importantly, the box office.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi RIAN JOHNSON GARBAGE!

IMG_0540.jpg

Born in 1982 a couple of years after the release of The Empire Strikes Back , in 1983 my parents took my baby-ass to watch Return of the Jedi. Of course, I didn’t remember that time-frame but in the mid-80s as a spawning child of Star Wars fandom! I would watch the trilogy on VHS or sometimes Betamax. As a 7 year old kid awestruck about Luke Skywalker, Han Solo with his scoundrel ways, and the princess that glued everybody together but now in the modern day were Disney owns LucasArts the tyrant Disney needs to revenue $6 billion a year other than that it goes back to George Lucas. **CROSSING MY FINGERS FOR THIS***

I have to say that JJ Abrams' Force Awakens and Gareth Edwards' Rogue One really brought me back to that good spot of wanting more about Star Wars. It brought the yearning of wanting to learn more about the lore and universe of Star Wars. However, this director Rian Johnson’s Last Jedi I have none of those feelings once again!!! This is probably the worst feeling I felt since Star Wars Episode I. Now to be "politically" correct I am a "legends" fanboy and follower of the lore established in the original "Expanded Universe" created by graphic novels, novels, and Dark Horse Comics.  Disney has since dissolved the expanded universe and is not canon, now Disney draws from legends like a siphoning locust(s) to bring badass ideas back to THEIR Star Wars Lore.  Disney calls it Star Wars "Canon" and since seeing the Last Jedi, I find myself in a difficult spot much like Mark Hamill is when he agreed to redo his role for the Last Jedi. I agree with Mark Hamill’s personification as well as his temperament behind Luke's character in this film.  Mark's  portrayal of Luke Skywalker some would say sucked but I honestly feel Mark acted as if he did not care because HE DID NOT CARE. In the many interviews with Mark Hamill prior to release of the film he often replied snarky and snobbish. Mark is an intelligent mother fucker and he knows what he is doing. He IS the Joker from the 90s Batman the Animated Series and made a great career from his voice acting. Mark distrust Disney and I commend him for that!

The Last Jedi took me at moments in the movie where I was jaw-dropping, meaning it didn’t make any sense to bring Leia back from her space explosion! Above all, killing off Admiral Akbar, the hero of the Battle of Endor, the admiral who destroyed the Superstar Destroyer: Executor in a matter of seconds, Ackbar was dead!

DEATH OF ADMIRAL ACKBAR IN A FEW SECONDS THE HERO OF ENDOR???!!! WHAT THE FUCK RIAN JOHNSON!!!!

DEATH OF ADMIRAL ACKBAR IN A FEW SECONDS THE HERO OF ENDOR???!!! WHAT THE FUCK RIAN JOHNSON!!!!

This movie has millennial all over it handing off the movie to these new characters which, I am not convinced and awe struck. I am not buying into Disney's new characters. They do not have strong screen presence like Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill!

I admit that the movie is visually stunning and if you’re into HDR Cinema, this shits for you! This movie will not disappoint visually but in terms of substance and character development taking place directly after Force Awakens. Rian Johnson could’ve built upon the plots created by JJ Abrams, Rian destroyed H O P E itself that the Star Wars franchise was going in an awe-struck direction as Abrams laid out in Episode 7.  Perhaps the Disney executives stated "we don’t care how Luke Skywalker dies... we don’t care how Supreme Leader Snoke dies... just make it happen" and tool Rian Johnson fucked it all up! Rian Johnson created the worst sequel in Star Wars history. What the fuck was the throne room for Snoke? A magnifying glass and red back drop? Granted his guards were sick and battle-hardened but again no explanation of Snoke, his guards, his powers, where he came from and most importantly Kylo revelaing (or lying) about Rey being a trash rat left at Jakku. If Snoke is all powerful how the fuck could he not see the lightsaber, feel Kylo's force tug of the lightsaber? SPEAKING OF THE LIGHTSABER...ANAKIN'S RELIC HAS BEEN DESTROYED. THEEEEE LIGHTSABER of the Clone Wars, killer of Dooku, killer of Jedi's and Sith, the lightsaber used in the duel between Obi-Wan and the very saber that dueled Vader from Luke. IT IS ALL GONE! FUCK YOU RIAN JOHNSON!

The other sub-plots that transpired failed miserably. I get it, Luke only had a few days or maybe a week with Master Yoda in Empire. Luke had to find a lot of himself through what Jedi training he acquired from his instructors. What made Luke special is that he pieced and gathered relics of Jedi teachings. ON HIS OWN!!! Rey, on the other hand she learned how to become a duelist in a matter of days??? To learning and mastering moving boulders?? For me Luke Skywalker's greatest achievement was facing Darth Vader on his own, being tempted by the Dark-side, losing his hand in a light saber duel with Vader and finding that his father is Anakin/Vader all the same!

Now in comparison, I began to understand more about  Kylo Ren after Awakens. In this film however, Kylo has yet to experience any of these emotions as Luke/Anakin did. Again it’s the millennial backdrop of self-gratification and quick gratification for this movie. The story is pushed all on Rey  as the all-powerful light and Kylo Ren is all-powerful in the dark. Both brats were handed factions:  remnants of the Empire to Kylo and remnants of the Rebellion to Rey! None of these two characters did anything extraordinary as the classic characters performed in the first movie(s). All the emotions that Luke Skywalker, Han or Leia experienced destroyed in the Last Jedi

I am not 100 percent hating on Star Wars entire franchise but definitely, I am disappointed in the direction that Rian Johnson under Diseny's tyranny took the franchise. Mark Hamill stated the best ...

"Disney does not care about quality... they care about quantity and making money!"

Carrie Fisher Passes at 60 Star Wars Fandom Sadom

Carrie Fisher, the actress best known as Star Wars‘ Princess Leia Organa, has died after suffering a heart attack. She was 60. I am sadden for the lost and although I may not have been a Star Wars Fan for very long, it is sadden to know that the community has lost one of the greatest pop-culture personalities of the movie genre: Sci-Fi Fantasy. Carrie Fisher is and will always be an iconic figure to the Star Wars community.

Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement to PEOPLE on behalf of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd:

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement.

Fisher was flying from London to Los Angeles on Friday, Dec. 23, when she went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics removed her from the flight and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for a heart attack. She later died in the hospital.

In a statement released on behalf of Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd, spokesman Simon Halls said: "It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8.55 this morning.

"She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers."

The daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher made her film debut opposite Warren Beatty in 1975's Shampoo.

But far greater fame was to follow when she played Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, a role she reprise in last year's reboot The Force Awakens.

She endured a difficult private life, and has often discussed her years of mental illness and drug addiction.

Definitely, from a women's standpoint, looking at her past photo shoots and realizing how much of pop culture icon she was and will be etched in stardom. Her look is represented in many women today and Carrie Fisher was doing this back in 1977. I applaud her fiery personality and outlook on her career.

Another Comic Con Come and Gone 2016

Since the early 2000s I have ventrued to the land of San Diego...although the area has not changed much with homeless wandering about the area and random beggars around Petco Park...the allure of SDCC is all too popular to ignore!

I must point out that this 2016 Con was not at all as "substanced" as previous years. What do I mean by that? It is now a playing ground for popular big-named studios to vie with big budgets in order to secure network rights to broadcast SDCC. What I have noticed...and I will elaborate on this in a bit...is that the small-time media (me) and production crews have all but disappeared. This is truly sad. No longer do I see small media at the con in the form of journalistic, broadcast, and bloggers. One would only need to connect the dots and am sure the big and nasty "Hollywood Studios" had influence over the small media businesses. This is what the original Comic Con was about...in fact, Star Wars was the first film ever to be premiered at SDCC and George Lucas has always wrestled with the large production studios...and this is why. Although small media has been squashed, sort of speak, their existence still persist but in smaller numbers and replaced in favor of more $$$ Lucrative avenues for the Convention Management and Comic Con itself!

SMALL MEDIA MADE COMIC CON THE WAY IT IS NOW...

I had a difficult discussion with the Media Press box at the Convention. I will not name names but the new directive and rules for media are...

1. Followers

2. Content

3. Consistency

I get it...however, I work for a University...a University does not have followers. The Cons have changed over the years and now advertise and employ beautiful Cosplayers and models to venture the Con...Families and first-timers to SDCC may suck-it-all-in with photos and selfies but they fail to see the legacy of SDCC going sour. Do not get me WRONG...SDCC is still a great place to be for all the information you need granted, you need to know what your going there for...I go there for business and not so much pleasure but it bothers the FUCK out of me when I cannot get an interview, a SDCC exclusive because the 9 snotty teenagers and family of 7 beat me to the collectible exclusives! FUUUUUCK! Then the fucks sell it on Ebay. FUCK YOU!

FUCKING LINES FOR A TRACER OVERWATCH SDCC EXCLUSIVE! SOLD OUT at $150 EA AND NOW ON EBAY FOR $500-800

FUCKING LINES FOR A TRACER OVERWATCH SDCC EXCLUSIVE! SOLD OUT at $150 EA AND NOW ON EBAY FOR $500-800

I love the Cosplayers. I support many independent Cosplayers...but shit...I cannot perform business duties at SDCC anymore without the lines and headache of families...SIGH.

Like anything else in this world markets become saturated. Comic Con now attracts too many for its area to handle. Las Vegas and Los Angeles would be ideal because of the space. However, Comic Con has its roots in San Diego and a huge blockbuster of income for the city. I get that...however, the Convention  and Comic Con management has gotten fat off the large production studios that they no longer need people like me. I get it...in fact this was OPENLY admitted by the supervisor in charge of the Media Booth. I gave her my opinion in the most logical and non-aggressiveness tone and she understood. She admitted that in the past small media was the means to get SDCC popular but now "things are different." G-G corporate Murica! FUCK! Now the one thing I enjoy going to every summer has turned a blind eye to even the original bloggers, media, broadcasters, and independent companies that MADE and SUPPORTED Comic Con in the past 15 years since its explosion in 2008!

The one take-away from this year is the DC movies...I am a prolific reader and collector of DC and must say...Wonder Woman...I love you... Her stand alone movie will kick some fucking ass!

BATMAN VERSUS SUPERMAN IS SUPER BADASS!!! Reaction and Review NO SPOILERS

oooOOooOK! So being the movie snob that I am and going into this movie with reservation and preconceived notions have now been completely tossed out the window. There are very few times that I prove myself in error and this would have to be it. Batman versus Superman: Dawn of Justice blew away any online hatred that I may have had about Ben Affleck as "Batman" and Jeremy Irons as "Alfred"...HOWEVER, I must point out that all but ONE point in this movie got crossed off my reservation list...Jesse Eisenberg. Nothing against his acting prowess more so on the casting choice to play the all-to-serious and overtly intelligent human, Lex Luthor. His portrayal and look just did not do it for me.

Alright got that bad lemon out of the way. Regardless of THAT character the movie was phenomenal and carried me all the way through wanting more. I have to say and will point out that DISNEY and Marvel but mostly DISNEY are maleficent, jealous, and sinister. DC Comics is breaking into the movie business and from what the "reviews" state of this movie, I declare as all false. Perhaps Disney PAID...PAIIIIID writers and skeptics to put down this movie. Who knows? I for one am not buying the negative feedback.

All I can say...Wonder Woman...FUUUUUCK YEAH!!!!

Sexy.

Strong.

Superb.

The producers kept her natural speaking accent in which kept it interstellarly beautiful and unique. Wonder Woman is a magical creature from GREEK Mythology and by keeping her speaking accent unchanged was a worthy addition to the movie!

This movie is NOT a Marvel/Disney flick and if your expecting the humorous puns and over the top CG fight scenes, you are not appreciating cinema. Zack Snyder did a magnificent job with the story line and captured the essence of a TRUE DC Comic portrayal. Marvel has always been a more "playful" comic than DC. I am not sure if this is the best choice of words in describing and I am sure some would disagree. Subjectively, Marvel does too much liberal writing in their comics and always look to relate the average daily life of a human to a super hero. I don't give a shit about Spider Man not getting a date with Mary Jane because he is too pussy to ask her out! I WANT DARKNESS I WANT GODS AMONG MEN!!! For me Comic Book characters portrayed and written in DC are above our mode of thought and physical means. Bruce Wayne is one of us "normal" humans but he is disturbed. DEEPLY disturbed as a child and if you do not know his backstory then your stupid for not. Superman is also disturbed but in a different way. He wants to be human but his alien ability to be super makes him a God. Not saying that Marvel does not have character back drops, I personally feel that DC's characters go far deeper in emotion and thought.

In the end, I am not going to debate which franchise has the bigger dick over the other. The point is DC deserves to break into the Comic Book Movie world and I encourage ALL TO SEE and SUPPORT this type of comic book movie. I will end with this. DC Comics has always laid the foundation of super characters and story lines. If you READ comics you will understand and know that Marvel has always and I mean always copied/mirrored toons from DC...here are some examples of similarities who was created (DC) first/ (Marvel) second:

Atom/Antman -both can shrink

Batman/Ironman-Rich boys one with an iron suit but no parent issues

Superman/Captain American and Hulk-Super in every way basically Gods

Wonder Woman/Thor-Greek/Viking Mythology

The Flash/Quicksilver-both speedsters

2016 X-Men: APOCALYPSE FAIL SUPER BOWL TRAILER FAIL

So watching the Super Bowl with my staff at The Orbiting Press Studios really put a dent in our spirits for this already mixed-emotions-movie. Granted, I love(ED) X-Men and while a tweenager in the early 90's, I remember getting my ass up early on Saturday morning and tuning into FOX to watch badass characters come to life in animation. Again Bryan Singer somehow pulls the funds out of his rich egotistical-ass backing his movies with over the top, poor casting and rushed special affects. Yes, I sound like a dick that has no idea how to make a movie but I know for certain that this these X-Men "adaptations" are far from the original universe. In my nerd rage I will still watch this shit and complain about Bryan Singer directing another X-Men movie...

The poor casting comes from two iconic characters: Psylocke and Storm. The trailer brought us a look at Olivia Munn and Alexandra Shipp. Meh...I am not sure about the acting capabilities of both but will see. I loved...again LOVE(ED) Olivia Munn in the ill-fated G4tv Attack of the Show making her success on willful and hopeful nerds. Those nerds spring boarded her into Comedy Central and now we see her on the big screen. GOOD FOR HER...but damn I do hope I am wrong about her in X-Men. Fox Studios could have casted a beautiful Asian from England with an ENGLISH accent. Not sure how the movie will pull this off with Olivia but from my understanding, Psylocke is the sister of Captain Britain.

Every time I hear, watch, and see promotions of X-Men:Apocalypse I breathe a hefty sigh of sadness and disappointment. Most people would disagree and really flock to the movies like fleas on a cat. I enjoyed the prequel X-Men adaptations as the castings for those fit-well however, the adaptions being produced and written still bug the shit out of me.

The one actress that I WILL fart up the cash just to see is Sophie Turner. Her portrayal of Jean Grey will be the decisive factor in me actually giving this movie at hearty half-thumbs up and 5 percent of brain attention span.

We all know a few months ago that Twitter blew up with the Apocalypse actor. I will point out as so many have that the villain I came to love in the 90s reading X-Men comics looks as if his ass was taken from a low budget Power Ranger Saturday morning episode. This only adds fuel to the fire that Bryan Singer sucks badly as a story-teller but successfully pulls money and funding for his fuck-ups. How unsuccessful  Bryan Singer's "adaptations" is for fanboys is fuel for his success in the box office. No matter how shitty it may seem, people will still puke up their money to go see this shit.

So will I.
